Studio Progressing

As is the nature of any project, my studio has been coming along quite slowly. Every time I fix something, I discover three more things that need immediate attention. It wouldn't be so bad except that we are still living in an apartment and I need to commute for an hour every time I want to get something done, and will usually only have two hours to actually get anything done.

My studio is finally flat, straight and level though, so construction has finally begun. I've removed the end wall and door, and have re-framed it with a window instead. I've also built some steps to safely enter and exit my studio, as well as secured the front door.

The next step on my list is to rebuild the other end wall, replacing the window. Depending on how much time I have when I start this step, I may be rebuilding part of the front wall as well. This involves removing another window, replacing the front door, and replacing 90% of the lumber in that area as it all seems to be water damaged.

The rest of the exterior work will wait until next spring (build a new roof, build a skirt around the studio, strip and replace the siding, designate parking, landscaping). Until then, I will be busy constructing benches, running electrical, installing ventilation, designing hoods, installing lighting ... and melting glass! So exciting, two weeks away from moving back home, and two weeks away from firing up my torch - assuming father time is kind to my schedule.
